Mini story: Around 630 BC. starts the use of marble for temples in Crete and Mycenae. At the end of the archaic period the marble sculptures were endowed with a more natural appearance. According to Plinios, the Greeks used almost exclusively the fine white marble of Paros to create their statues. Pheidias and other famous sculptors competed with each other in sculpting the sacred statues. The history of marble continues in the 6th and especially in the 5th century BC., with the extraction of Greek marbles becoming more intensive. In sculpture, marble was used very early. Already from the Middle Neolithic era, at around 5,000 BC, we have female figurines made of marble, while later follow the famous Cycladic ones . In architecture, on the other hand, its use begins much later and at first it was very limited. With the beginning of the classical period (6th century BC) marble is used in many monuments in combination with porphyry.

MAINTENANCE:The best way to clean marble surfaces is with hot water. Due to its porous surface, marble is easily stained by various acids, such as wine. In such cases it is advisable to clean it quickly with warm water and a cloth or sponge. Neutral pH detergents (above 5) can be used very sparingly as part of the cleaning process. Consumer cleaning products should be avoided.
Metal armchairs are easy to clean with a damp cloth. The same applies for the cast iron table base as well.
In any case, it is advisable to cover the metal parts in case of rain for their better protection.

ADVANTAGES:This is a timeless and classic composition of table and armchairs. Especially the marble table is the great asset of the composition. Over the centuries, no other material has been found with so many charismatic properties, a material that deeply touches human existence, gently touches its most sensitive strings and drags it into the world of aesthetics. One could write a lot about the white Greek marbles that were widely used in architecture and sculpture and gave unique works of art that convey to this day with unique vitality the pulse of life, thought and philosophy of an entire culture.
